Watermelon Health Benefits and Nutrition Facts

One of my favorite fruits to use in smoothies and shakes is the watermelon.

Not only is it refreshing, it also has a lot of health benefits. Here now below are some nutrition facts about watermelons which I’ve found online.

As with most fruits, it is packed with a lot of antioxidants. And it has been found that watermelons have one of the most powerful.

Although it does not taste citrusy, watermelons are high in Vitamin C. But also, it is a good source of Vitamin A and beta-carotene.

Another watermelon health benefit is its abundance of lycopene, which is said to help reduce the risks of prostate cancer and other heart diseases. Moreover, it is a nutrition fact that watermelons have the highest concentration of lycopene than any other fresh fruit or vegetable.

Furthermore, this fruit is rich in electrolytes and potassium which makes it an ideal food (or smoothie) after a perspiring cardiovascular workout.

Watermelons is around 90% water and is found to have a cooling effect to the body when taken. That’s why they’re usually served on the beach!

And lastly, watermelons are fat free and have no cholesterol – making it an ideal snack for those who would want to lose weight.
