My parents had their wedding reception in Savory Restaurant in Escolta. That’s why I could see so much nostalgia from them whenever they’ll see a Savory branch, which seems to be spreading lately.
And so one day, I decided to eat dinner with friends in one of their branches, specifically the one in SM Mall of Asia, to find out why this chicken restaurant has survived through all these years.

Now rebranded as Classic Savory, the place is still a favorite of the “oldies” and seems to be a getting on the good side of the younger generation.

The fried chicken at Savory has similarities with the “lechon manok”, one of my favorite drinking pulutan. But the gravy is what I think defines the overall experience in eating a Savory fried chicken.

And what do you drink with all these delicious chicken? My best choice would be the Savory Blend Iced Tea.

This house specialty states that it is made from real black tea leaves and citrus blends. I agree that it’s a truly refreshing drink.

i’ve eaten at savory before but have never tried their iced tea. i’ll probably do that soon =)
ahm i agree to you… their iced tea is really refreshing,,,, but mas gusto ko ung tropical cooler nila kasi super sarap tlaga… its their four seaason version ata iyun…
iba yung savory nung 1950s na panahon ng magulang natin dear, the original savory yun. pero hindi sila yung sa malls. yung sa malls, ibang company pala yun, iba talaga taste sa original. recently ko lang rin nalaman eh!
I’ve been eating at Savory ORIGINAL ever since I could eat solid food and I love the gravy! I used to drink it
and after eating at Savory Classic (in Greenhills and other malls), I was a bit disappointed. Good thing there’s an Original Savory that opened near our place in Santolan.
